about
Where this came from.
I am Matt Bernier. I run craftbatch.ai, and I do the work myself.
Before craftbatch.ai there was craftbatchmarketing.com. 20+ years building marketing and product systems for considered brands. Small batch, by hand, with taste. The principle was that good marketing happens when you take the time to understand a brand at the level of its details, not its categories. The same principle applies here.
A law practice has a voice. It has standard positions. It has phrasing tics. It has a way of organizing a brief that nobody outside the firm has codified. The work of craftbatch.ai is to find those patterns, write them down, and put them where Claude will see them on every future matter. Same craft, new domain.
We build together. The configured practice is the moat.
Why this practice exists.
Lawyers have one of the highest possible return on investment use cases for AI, but low adoption. The reason is that nobody has set the tools up for them. Enterprise legal AI is sold to IT departments on procurement cycles. The chat-window approach is too generic to trust on a real matter. Nothing in between is built around how a particular practice actually works.
A new legal AI product launches most weeks. Very few of them are the thing a firm actually needs, and no firm has time to evaluate them all. What is missing is not another tool. It is a clear plan for using the ones that already exist. Most of the connections, the day-to-day productivity, the safety rails: a firm can build those itself, once someone has shown it how.
I started craftbatch.ai to fill that gap. The bet is that firms will pay for AI that knows how they already practice law, not for AI that promises to transform their practice.
How I work.
What I do, and what I will not do.
I do.
- Sit with you and read your historical work product
- Configure Claude on your machine, scoped to your matters
- Distill your patterns into Skills you can read and edit
- Stay on retainer to refine the library as your practice changes
I do not.
- Own your data
- Hold your keys
- Train models on your client files
- Lock you into anything
If you want to see what this looks like for your firm.
Thirty minute call. No pitch deck. We talk about your practice and figure out whether this is a fit.
